NOTE: I don't work for Network Marketing and I am not a distributor. I love the fact that they sell technology via a Network Marketing model. I take a look at many MLMs and try to present an unbiased, expert opinion for those who are considering the company as their own business opportunity.
Truth #1: The FTC and the BBB watch businesses for consumers.
Check in with Better Business Bureau or the Federal Trade Commission to see if there are any filed complaints regarding a Network Marketing scam. The Internet moves rapidly. Regulating commerce, prosecuting and publicizing scam businesses is what they do.
Both the BBB and the FTC record complaints. They're fair though - the give companies an opportunity to respond to the complaint. Anyone can see the complaints and how the company responded and decide if they thought it was a scam.
Truth #2: Online Marketers effectively capture "eyeballs" by using the word scam.
There are over a million people all over the world searching for a way to make more money.
- Internet marketers purposely target keywords to get in front of these people.
- When people are researching home-based businesses, they immediately go to Google and search for the company to see if itís real and not a scam.
- Meaning, there are a lot of keyword searches for "Company Scam".
- Shrewd marketers take advantage of this as a way to get in front of you.
Fast forward any video or scroll to the end of any article. Chances are, a shrewd marketer will be selling you their opportunity by the end of the content.
It's exactly the same with Network Marketing scam. Do it and see what I mean.
Truth #3: Business Opportunities like MLMs, Network Marketing and Home Based Ventures tend to conjure up negative images.
MLMs in general, are thought of as scams. Itís just the unfortunate truth.
Google thinks the same thing and has really made it difficult for online businesses. This is actually very fortunate. Scrutinizing the industry and imposing rules will actually clean it up and get rid of those few scammers out there that are giving the rest of us a bad name.
Scammers will get caught and be required to pay large sums ($20K plus) and risk being taken out of Google's search all together. For a business that relies upon Internet Marketing that's equivalent to "out of business".
So, what about the Network Marketing scam?
Run away from anyone who promises that you can be rich in no time. Any legitimate business wil require work and effort, bottom line.
Network Marketing business distributors who understand and put a lot of effort and tenacity into their venture; succeed. It also takes money to get it up and running. It takes money to make money despite what anyone tells you. Every company out there has a list of distributors with success stories or theywouldn't still be in business.
My advice:
- Dedicate 1 year to getting your business started
- Take the first sales and put it back into your business budget
- Do it with our without the help of a sponsor
If someone is talking about a Network Marketing scam, question them. Ask the accuser what they did to build their business. The truth about the scam will be in their answer which will most likely be around their lack of effort in their business. People love to blame the company on their own lack of effort.
